Grantville Overall Traffic Impacts

Traffic along the Mission Gorge corridor is not only adversely affected by density of
surrounding development and disconnected uses, but inadequate physical road
conditions along Mission Gorge Road also contribute to unsafe travel volumes. The
Interstate 8 interchange at Mission Gorge and Fairmont Avenue is severely under
capacity, which leads to bottle neck conditions throughout the day. Alvarado Creek,
a tributary to the San Diego River, consistently floods during high storm events,
which in turn floods businesses along Mission Gorge Place.

 There are more traffic issues that will affect the Grantville Area Communities than just those of Grantville

The traffic/trip data on this page has been extracted from the Grantville DEIR that can be used to determine Daily Roadway Traffic in the Project Area

Table 4.2-4 Trip Generation for the Proposed Project can be used to determine ball park traffic impacts for proposed developments. Refering to the Traffic Tabulation Projections table - dwelling units (DU) residential, we can get an idea of the trip rate traffic impact to the area above the existing traffic impacts by listing the number of dwelling units and multiplying by the trip rate to get proposed daily trips. By referring to table 4.2.1 we can get an idea of the impact above today's [2004] traffic.
